Bt Internet. Tried to install wireless. Got error message wireless key is wrong or hub is unreachable.?

Hello i have bt internet on my pc. I have wireless option on my laptop. So i decided to install using the bt cd. The lap interfaces with the hub confirms it's name. Then i asks for wireless key. I type it in and error. Wireless key mismatch or hub unreachable. It sitting like half a metre away. So is there a problem with the wireless key. So i put in an ethernet and decided to try it that way. so i selected wireless option again from the cd. Entered my details user p and it auto added the settings including the wireless key. So the cd set up the wireless net work and a wired net work. Yahoo bt internet works with the ethernet in. When i take it out to go wireless it crashes. However when i just run internet explorer the wireless works. That is untill i restart my computer then the laptop wont connect even to the modem it just says unable to connect. It shows the hub is there with the signal strenght but wont connect. Anyone help please.
