Why weren't all of the "biblical" works included in the bible?

if the people who wrote the books of the bible were directed by God, then why were some works left out when the bible was put together? The Qua-ran has Jesus stories too, but those stories weren't included. Why would God allow the fullness of his works (and thus the minds of his followers) to become tainted by partial truths sold as full truths.
